• Learning from Ryker has been one of the most rewarding musical experiences I have ever had. He’s not only an exceptionally talented guitarist with training from Berklee College of Music, but also a gifted teacher who can connect with students of any skill level. His lessons are clear, highly encouraging, engaging, and tailored to my goals as a musician. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough for anyone really serious at getting an edge in their guitar skills.

  • Really great instructions we were able to move at my own pace and I learned quickly.

  • I would highly recommend Ryker as a guitar teacher - he has a deep understanding of music theory and can communicate said technical knowledge in a way that is accessible to someone (myself) with no prior background in that subject! His eclectic playing style is predominantly rooted in Jazz and Blues, but he is also more than familiar with a multitude of other genres. Beyond this musical expertise, Ryker was highly responsive and very willing to accommodate for my extremely busy schedule, which spoke volumes towards his devotion to teaching.

  • Ryker helped me on the beginning of my guitar journey, and was helpful in establishing best practices for learning proper techniques!

  • Ryker is an incredible teacher! As a hobby musician for the past 20 years, I've never learned so much in such a short time. His genuine passion for music and his exceptional teaching skills make him truly inspiring. I highly recommend him!

  • Ryker is a fantastic teacher and anyone who takes lessons with him is bound to improve drastically at the guitar. Ryker is skilled and presice at all genres, from punk to jazz, and he learns about your individual taste in music, inspirations, and goals with the guitar, and caters his lesson planning to that. I took one lesson with Ryker in Boston before we both ended up moving to Seattle and I improved exponentially from practicing with his notes in mind. He taught me mindfulness in the way I hold a pick and strum, proper shapes of the wrist and fingers (even though it wasn't easy at first; knowing that and shaping my practice that way has made my technique so much better), rhythm exersizes, and the major scale which helped me begin learning guitar theory and practice my picking. I think the most important topic I learned from this lesson though was how to properly play power chords by muting the strings not being played and knowing where my fingers should be to reduce tension. As a rock/punk singer/songwriter, this technique has immensely helped in improving my playing of power chords, which I use for a lot of my songs, and has made it so much easier for me to play. From one 1hr lesson, I have become so much better. Now that we've both moved to Seattle, I'm really excited to start lessons again and get better at the guitar at a consistent upward rate that Ryker gives you the space and tools to allow! Everyone looking to understand and improve at guitar should be spending their time well and learning from Ryker!

  • Ryker's lessons were able to break down the guitar for me in a way that made it interesting and fun. If you're looking for a straightforward no nonsense way of teaching then Ryker is the guy for you. I would recommend you take lessons no matter what age or level you are. Whether you're into Jazz or rock or anything in between you won't regret it.
